Express yourself

 As a disabled woman I am very used to seeing other people portray what they think my experience is. Well-meaning people who want to ‘spread awareness’ have been doing that kind of thing for years. Not to say all media depicting disabled people is bad (though a lot is).  It’s  simply frustrating that so few mainstream shows are made by disabled people.

That is where “Symbiotic” comes in. It’s a story about me and my girlfriend and some of our friends. It’s silly and sad and a little weird. The characters are not written to be pitied or be role models. They just are the way they are. It’s not the experience of every disabled person on earth but it is, in my opinion, a step in the right direction.
